Experience and Education:
Liudmyla graduated from the National University for Food Technologies gaining specialization in biotechnology, microbiology, chemistry, organization of technological processes. She has also gained extensive industry experience working in research lab of the leading Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Enterprise as well as at the Scientific Research Institute NPO “SPECTR”.
Beginning from 1993, Mrs. Portna focused her efforts on technology innovations and viable strategies for protection of Intellectual Property graduating from Institute for Intellectual Property and Kyiv Law University of the Academy od Sciences of Ukraine gaining Masters of Law degree and certification of the Patent Attorney of Ukraine allowing her to practice in the field of inventions, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, as well as to practice law.
In 1995 she proceeded to co-found the first leading Intellectual Property firm in Ukraine A. Prigof and Partners representing significant number of high - profile corporate patent portfolios such as ORTO-PHARM, INC (US), E.I.Du Pont Ne MOURS and Company, Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V. (B.E.), Chinoin Pharmaceuticals (now Sanofi), Smithkline Beechem P.L.S. (G.B.), Agouron Pharmaceuticals Ink. (US), CENTOCOR INC. and many others.
Since 2003 she is the Managing Director, Partner and Patent Attorney at International Patent and Law firm D&L CONSULT, LLC which she co-founded with the Patent Attorney of Ukraine Diana Portna. Later the co – founded International Center for Patent Services and Translations D&L Patent, that are both marketed under the umbrella brand D&L IP GROUP.
Thanks to a wide range of partners and many years of experience, both companies successfully represent clients and have a large portfolio of registered trademarks and issued patents on inventions owned by companies and/or individuals based in Ukraine, European Union, USA, etc as well as completed translations of patent applications as a leading patent translation vendor.
